52th White Truffle Market Fair of San Miniato

 11-12 / 18-19 / 25-26 November

The White Truffle Market Exhibition is a long-living tradition of San Miniato. It always takes place on the last three weekends of November. In this period of the year, the truffles are at their ripeness peak. For the occasion of being the core center of truffle trade in the Region, the city of San Miniato sets up an open-air Market in the historical town. It is a time of the year flooded by fragrances: in each corner, there is a different product with truffle, and in each square, there are typical flavors with local and regional products.

During the weekend famous chefs are challenged to prepare their best recipe using the precious Truffle. The live cooking shows occurs in “Truffle House” where traditional and gourmet excel in food and wine.

White Truffle of San Miniato Hill

Among the kitchen of the best restaurants all over the world, the white truffle is the most prized food on the table. In history, it was considered a “magical fruit”, and even today, in modern cuisine, the “gold mushroom” is a rich and high-priced ingredient. San Miniato hillsides have a natural surrounding of woods where the White Truffle grows. The area for the gathering of White Truffle is limited in the world. Not many places would have been blessed by this luck. Sure enough, there are mysterious combinations of why forest, fauna, and geological substratum allow its growth.

There are plenty of options to reach our town. Emperors and Kings chose San Miniato for its central position. Yet contemporary transportation will serve you well. It doesn’t matter if you travel by plane (Airport Pisa, Airport Florence) or by train (San Miniato-Fucecchio train station). There will be a shuttle service running all day long from a parking spot (San Miniato Basso freeway exit) and for those who prefer biking, there is always the Via Francigena to climb up the hill.
